"We consider ourselves incredibly lucky!"
Nicky has been a photographer since a young person: had a darkroom growing
up and worked for a newspaper for five years during high school and
college.
Chuck has gotten serious about photography in the last 15 years,
but both have learned from some of the best nature and wildlife photographers
in the world, including Art Morris, Frans Lanting, and George Lepp.
A special "thank you" to Robin Cole (Picture Perfect Farms)
for all of her help during Audubon walks at Lettuce Lake Park and for
her incredible support and encouragement.
Travel to Spain, Africa, Canada, more
Chuck & Nicky love to travel and capture, on film, the animals,
places and people they see. They have traveled throughout Europe, South
America,
the Caribbean, the US, Canada and the Republic of South Africa.
In order to truly observe the animals for extended periods and during
their most active periods (early and late in the day), they avoid the
packaged tours and use public transportation or rent a vehicle to "self-tour".
Especially in Africa, it is common to be out of the camp at daybreak
(not permitted out earlier), eat a picnic lunch next to a river or under
a tree, and return to the camp at sunset. They have witnessing lions fighting,
a leopard on the hunt and a pounce (it missed), giraffes sparring, elephants
bathing, weavers building nests, bull elk sparring and bugling & much
more.
Event Photography - Dogs and Horses
As a natural extension to wildlife photography, Chuck and Nicky thoroughly
enjoy attending and photographing Frisbee® dog competitions, dog
agility trials, conformation dog shows, herding trials, retriever field
trials, and western and dressage equine events and taking pet portraits.
Their family includes Satara, an active young Rottweiler, Baloo, a young
Ragdoll cat and an Arabian gelding, Chief (19 yrs. Old) - see photos
to the right. Also important
are beloved family members at the Rainbow Bridge: Punkin (Rottweiler,
August 2001), Bailey
(Himalayan
cat, December 2004), and Sabi (August 2005). "Through
our event photography, we have been able to 'adopt' many very special
dogs and are very fortunate to be able to spend time with them".
